I lost my key, then had to move it. And broke the column so I could get it out of park, and be able to steer it. The PATS system won't let me start it now. All I want to do is install a toggle switch for the ignition, and a push button for the starter. I do not want to repair my broken column. I just want to add the switches.
Basically, I want to do away with the keys completely.
How do I get rid of the PATS system, so I can drive it?
Thanks

There is no way to remove the PATS system. It is part of the column, the instrument panel, the body module and the PCM. The system, reads the key, then it sends a code to the dash and the BCM. The code gets compared to the stored codes and that unlocks the PCM so that it will allow the vehicle to start and run. The days of adding a switch and button ended in the 80's really. Pretty much all makes and models use some form of antitheft and very few of them can be eliminated due to how they are integrated into the vehicle.
