I lost the original keys to the truck and at the time thought I could go to the auto parts store and get new ignition and key that didn't work. Tried changing the steering column with a new key didn't work dealership said I need a new PCM $800.00 to fix it and get programmed keys. Is this my only option?

Hello,

You can get your new keys programmed to the existing PCM at either the dealership or a locksmith. I am not sure why they told you need a new PCM, but you can get a new lock cylinder with keys and have them programmed. Call your local locksmith and inquire with him.

Thanks,
Alex

I don’t understand why they would try to sell you a PCM! This is a ten minute solution, clear existing key codes and program minimum two new keys, and done.
