Boyfriend has lost his only key to his vehicle listed above and it has an Anti-theft system. If he has a new key made by a locksmith will the new key work or will the Anti-theft keep it from working?

He will need a new key and to have it programmed into the PATS system to get the antitheft to turn off. Being an early truck, it has the first-generation PATS system which only needs to have one key; however, it would likely be cheaper to have two made and programmed in at the same time, that way he has a spare and with two keys that work it is possible to add more keys without needing a programmer. When the new key is added he can ask the locksmith to either erase all the keys out of the system or just add the new one, the difference is that if all are erased and he finds the old key it will not work. However, that could keep someone else who found it from taking the truck.
Now if he has two keys and did find the old one, he could add it back in himself.
