Was wondering if I could replace the steering column in my car with an 2004 Mazda 3 steering column with the computer being fine and not sending any error codes?

Nope, The column is different and the PCM reads a chip inside the 2008 key. It will not read the keys in the 2003 column.

You should be able to take your title and registration to a dealer and get new keys.

Would I have to bring it there for them to set the chip? And it is actually a 2007, so would Ford still be able to make that key or would I have to go to a Mazda dealer?

You would need to get the new keys first, the dealer can use the VIN information to have the keys cut to fit your cars existing key locks and then they need to write the chips in them into the PCM.

Not sure on if a Ford dealer would do it or not, the companies are tied together but you might want to call them to find out.

The other option would be to have a locksmith create a key, some can do it the same way as the dealer, and they can come to you. You may want to call around and see which option works better for you.
