Lost all gears even 4x4 will not engage,

Driving and stop sign so coming from a stop.I step on gas and I am going halfway through intersection lost gears like I popped it in neutral, and I coasted to a stop. first thing I thought was linkage and no works great. then I thought because I heard no pop or anything that I lost a vacuum lime and so I look around down there and there is a elbow for a hose down there exposed, and it is on the transfer case. where does that hook up to? then I get towed home. I am hoping that is the problem, if not I am going to be using this site all night.

That would be a vent line. Nothing vacuum controlled on that T-Case. It is possible that the T-Case did shift into neutral. It would mean the encoder motor or the T-Case controller are faulty but it is possible. The other option is that something inside the trans failed. Like the forward clutch sprag. Not uncommon with the 4L60E.

Forward contract sprag can I reach that just by dropping the pan?

My mechanic was saying maybe this little module under the steering column he had to change one out before same symptoms. That is hard to believe but I am giving him a shot.

The sprag is a part inside the transmission. Basically the transmission would have to come out and be gone through.
The module would be the T-Case control module. As I said it can shift into neutral if faulty.
