My car has lost its power. It struggles to get to 70 MPH on the motorway and if I go uphill it can struggle to get to 30. Rac put the monitor on it and said everything fine as I had and issue with my last car with ignition coil but rac said that wasn't the problem. I'm burning through fuel so quickly since this problem started as well and my new job is half the distance and I'm fueling more.

Hi,

When you are driving, do you notice any odd sounds from the exhaust? Also, do you have a live data scan tool?

When there is a power loss as described, often times it is related to a plugged catalytic converter. Take a look through this link and let me know if anything mirrors what you are experiencing:

Next, I mentioned the scan tool because if you are using more fuel, it could be related to the fuel pressure regulator. When the vehicle is running, do you ever notice odd smells from the exhaust or dark gray or black smoke from it?

If you do have a live data scanner, check the short-term fuel trims and let me know what they are. I should be able to tell a lot from that info.

Let me know.

Take care,

Joe
