So, I'm looking at my Haynes manual and looking at what I think my shift linkage seems to feel tether loose compared to other cars. I've looked at and the pic in the manual looks to me as though my bracket is on upside down and backwards as you can see from the pics of my truck at the same angle as the manual pic or am I crazy? But if I'm right would this explain why mine feels so loose, I'm also including a video showing what I call loose and it's got the mystery hose in it as well. Also, I need to know what this hose is other than it comes off the top of the transmission and has a push clip that sits in the air filter housing and if or where it should connect to. I don't have any dtc codes coming up.

Thanks for the images and video, the hose you are looking at is a simple vent tube, so this is normal, as for the shifting linkage is the nut loose. It should be tightened to 17 foot pounds. Here are the instructions on how to fix it in the diagrams below. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what happens.

Okay, thanks on the hose answer but on the linkage yes, it's loose and if you look at the pics of my car and the 1 of the Haynes manual you can see how the bracket on my car appears to be not only upside down and backwards but also not the same size. So, do I need to take it off and flip it around so it looks like it does in the Haynes pic? As for the diagram you gave me I apologize but it doesn't help answer my original? Can you please look at those pics again and let me know if you see what im trying to explain if not I can include a video so I can better verbalize my?

Here is what it looks like in my ALLDATA manual, and yes, a video would help to get a closer look. I don't know why or how it can be on backwards, but you never know. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Okay, looking at that pic it's exactly how mine is on my truck, but my Haynes manual is different. Which seems to be the case in other areas as well. Do you know how I can get a repair manual that's made exactly for my Murano?

Can you remove the nut to see why it is loose?

I took both the nuts off top and bottom and made sure it was all the way in park manually tightened them back down and now the bracket barely moves. I was unable to remove it in order to flip it around like it is in the Haynes but the bolt on top still doesn't tighten enough that the lever can't be moved side to side by hand, but as I said earlier the pic you sent me matches how mine is hooked up so that sets my mind at ease on it.

Does it seem to work okay? Or does it seem like the pivot is worn out?

What's the pivot if it's the bolt the bracket sits on topped by the nut there's play in between them as if a bushings missing cause the nut can't go any tighter.

It sounds like you are going to need a new shift arm which is available at the dealer. You might be able to rig it though if you take it apart and shoot a video I can try to help fix it without getting a new one.
