I would like to know the location of the Toyota Venza driver side blend door A/C actuator which needs to be replaced. The driver side is blowing the hot air and the passenger side is blowing the cold air when turned on the A/C. So I guess the problem is in the driver side A/C actuator.

Unfortunately, the manual doesn't list the actual process on how to remove it however, it does provide the location. Normally there is an access panel on the driver side that you can gain access to this. If not, you may need to look up under the dash and find the best way to remove it.

Review this material and let me know what questions you have. Sorry they didn't provide more detail. I am surprised there was no process.

Thank you. I should probably head to Toyota repair shop. I am an average DIY, who can do brakes and oil change.

I am sorry it doesn't give a process but if you can do that, I would just give it a look. With that guide and a little poking around, you may be able to do it. Clearly I would not suggest removing the dash but I doubt that you have to do that.

However, if you are not comfortable then I a shop is not a bad option. Let us know what happens. Thanks

Okay, so I tried to be an investigator and actually found the driver side blend door actuator in my Toyota Venza. It is located on the driver side of HVAC. Need to go under the crawling space underneath the driver side. I had to lay flat on my back, looking all the way up. My head was almost resting on the accelerator pedal. No need to remove any panel or anything. There are two small Phillips screw holding it. One screw is visible but another screw is absolutely hidden as it’s on the top side. I just unscrew that invisible screw by feel of it. Detach the cable and it comes out.

However I realized that my blend door actuator may not be a problem. The driver side A/C was still blowing “warm” air when I manually turned the white plastic flap (I don’t know what it’s called) on one side. When I manually turned that white plastic flap all the way other side, the driver side vent blew “hot air”. Sorry I can’t explain accurately but I am sure experts know what I am talking about.

I think I may need the A/C refrigerant recharge.

I thank you for the advice and the words of encouragement, “you can do it”.

Pictures were difficult to take so they may not be directional.

Great job. If you moved the door and it did not blow cold air but did blow hot air when going in the opposite direction, then yes. Most likely the A/C charge is low.

I would suggest running through these guides and get the high and low side pressures. If they are low then you can just add some Freon. The best way to check this is to pull it down into a vacuum to see if it holds. If it doesn't then you have a leak.

Run through this and let us know what you find. Thanks again.

Finally I Had my car A/C Freon recharged at Firestone for around $150.00. Not worth time and buying manifold kit, vacuum for probably one time use in next five years. I know I could have done DIY, though.

After recharge both driver and passenger side vents blowing cold air! So when this issue arises when either driver or passenger sides not blowing cold air, it’s either Freon recharge or blend door actuator are the typical culprits. I am glad that I checked blend door actuator and I knew it was working just fine. So I was prepared when I went to auto mechanic so they don’t scam me. They offered me comprehensive A/C diagnostic followed by repair needed but I firmly said “I just need recharge and nothing else. They also offered me to change cabin air filter for $60.00. I said “no, thank you”.

Your website is very helpful. I am sure I will return in future.
