ECM/ECU location

Have downloaded several manuals but none of them give me a diagram of the location. Supposed to be behind glove box but I do not see it there.

Hi TNTPROS,

Unfortunately, it looks like this is where Alldata says it is as well. However, this may be misleading because it shows you the location from inside the vehicle. More than likely this is on the firewall in the engine compartment on the passenger side.

Let me know if you still can't find it and I will see if I can get more detail. However, it appears this is not well explained from Kia because there is not much detail out there.

if I replace the ecm on a 2004 Kia Spectra 5, will I have to program the unit or is it a plug and play operation. due to a crack and no start condition

It is not a plug and play replacement, the ECM will need to be programed which you can get done by searching ebay or google. Do you have codes or can I ask why you are replacing it?
