Linkage from sport mode to regular mode broken

Okay, so I heard a thunk after pulling out of a parking lot. I immediately entered another lot and once stopped my shifter would shift but did not engage at all. Now I have sport mode on my vehicle. So, I was thinking that maybe the linkage broke due to the swapping from sport mode back to automatic. Please help, I cannot send it to the shop right now!
