transmission linkage adjustment

Hi,

There is nothing listed for the Mighty Max or the Ram 50. So, I did some digging and found some info that contradicts itself. So, let's work through this together.

Does it have a column or floor shifter? I need you to confirm it is a cable and not steel linkage rods.

Take a look at the two pics below. One shows a steel shift rod and the other a cable that goes from the column to the trans. I need to know which you have.

Column shift this is what i got, Joe.

I need a closer look how its connected to the transmission and all the linkages attached.

It just has a plastic bushing that goes over a pin on the trans shifter. Do you need info on the kick-down linkage? Let me know. Also, because of the type of cable it is, there is nothing on it that is adjustable. So, it has to be at a mount or at the shifter in the steering column.

Let me know if you need the kick-down info and I'll dig into things to see if I can find how it's attached in the column.

Let me know. Note that the Ram 50, which is basically the same vehicle, was no longer offered in the US after 1993. That's where I'm running into trouble. Plus, there is little to no info on the shift linkage.

If possible, take pics of the areas you are having trouble with and upload them for me. Between the two of us, we'll figure things out. Also, let me know exactly what is happening.

Thank you I need the kickdown linkage. The reason why I need this info because I'm stuck with it. they took the transmission out last week and they don't remember how to put it back together. Joe stay safe.

I found another pic. Number 6 is shift linkage and number 8 is the kick down (AKA transmission throttle control).

The only thing I was able to find was the adjustment for the transmission throttle cable (kick down). A cable runs from the trans up to the throttle body.

What is actually happening with the vehicle? If it is a shifting issue, there is a vacuum modulator on the transmission that can cause problems. Let me know.

I have no shifting problem at least not yet. the problem I'm encountering is i need to know the exact position of the linkages on the transmission. Thank you Joe.

Or something to show me a starting point where/what to hook up on the transmission.

Is it the indicator that is the issue? As far as adjustment, I would place the shift lever on the trans in the part position and then make any adjustments to the shift lever cable so it is indicating park as well.

I'm sorry. I know it isn't that easy, but not being there to see exactly what you are dealing with makes it hard for me. I can likely go back a few years to an older model to see if that helps.

If you look at the pics below, they are for a 1990. The issue I see is this. The pics show a floor shift, but the components section indicates a cable.

What I suspect is happening is this. The floor shift is a steel rod linkage and the column is the cable. In the directions, it says to place the shift lever in neutral and then adjust the transmission to neutral by loosening the control arm nut. There has to be something similar on the cable design.

As soon as I go to a 1991, I lose even that info.
