Lines on brake rotor?

I changed the brakes and rotors a few months ago and have had these lines on only one brakes rotor. Is it normal for it to look like this not too deep groves? It has changed over time from with different lines and then recently it got that one deeper looking line that goes around like in the picture. Is it also normal to only be happening in on one side?

Hi,

I suspect you are referring to grooves in the brake rotor. It isn't uncommon for them to get slight grooves. It is all based on the brake pad and the composition used to make it. If they are a semi-metallic pad, there could be something in the pad material that is cutting into the rotor. However, it shouldn't be extreme.

That is likely caused by the brake pads. I wouldn't be overly concerned. It isn't uncommon.

Hi,

It isn't uncommon at all. If you don't see any marks, that would be uncommon. LOL

I have a 2013 Durango that I purchased new. It now has 130,000. The rotors are original and have some marks on them. If I were to replace them, chances are the new ones would look worse after a few hundred miles than the old ones do. The original brakes on those vehicles are excellent.
