Engine Performance problem
1997 Lincoln Town Car V8 Two Wheel Drive

my town car recently started bucking alot and shutting off.The guy at the auto place said it is either oxygen sensor or fuel filter but i thought it could be plugs,please help i dont have money to try all of these out.

If check engine light on
should scan for codes and fix as needed
suspect and check tune up 1st
