Well I bought the car last month, it run great. Well about 2 weeks ago the car started sputtering and didnt want to get up past 55 mph, it eventually quit and was doin great. Well last saturday my gas tank was sugared, well the fuel filter stopped the sugar from passing through it to the motor. We changed the fuel pump, cleaned the fuel lines, replaced the spark plugs, cleaned the gas tank out, and put sea foam, and a full tank of gas, super unleaded, Well after that the car started up just fine, I drove it to town and it did great. Well the next day I decide to drive it, the car sputtered real bad when I crank it up, It barely backed up, I got it on the highway it jumped bucked missed and everything, It goes dead when sittin idle at a red light or something. The check engine light is on too. What could be goin on?

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis, finding out what's going on.

I had the codes checked at autozone, it came back to be the gas pressure relay. Then I took it to advanced autos, they said the fuel system was to rich, and to add sea foam to my gas, And if that didnt help try replacing all the sensors under the hood. The mechanic I have, has checked the fuel lines some of the sensors, and cleaned the fuel injectors. Well ater he did that the car ran fine for like 20 minutes then started back the same way it was. Somebody said it could be the point where the oxygen and gas mix, could be the problem. I smell a strong odor of gas when Im goin down the road also.

Could be running rich due to the following below

1. Fuel pressure not within specs. Can be cause by restricted fuel return line or defective fuel pressure regulator.
2. Defective Oxygen Sensors.
3. Leaking injectors.
4. Coolant temperature sensor out of calibration.
5. Restricted air intake system.
