1989 Lincoln Town Car Lincoln won't start

I got a1989 lincoln town car 302 or 50L when I try to start it the engine turns over for a second or so the the Starter slows down and battery runs down and engine wont turn over any more. this can be repeated in five or more seconds. New Battery, Starter and new Battery cables. What wrong?. Bart martin maverickbt@aol.com
