1985 Lincoln Town Car Two Wheel Drive Automatic 85,000 miles

My head light switch will not come on automatically when it gets dark. It works if I pull the switch manually. How do I trouble shoot this problem?

It used to come on and off automaticlly. Should I be looking at the switch or the sensors?
