My check charging system light flashes occasionally and just momentarily on my 03 Lincoln Aviator. What would cause this? Could the alternator be failing or is something else wrong?

you might have a battery going bad, most auto parts stores can check them. But in the mean time clean your battery cables as they may be dirty causing the same problem.

I bought a 2003 Licoln navigator as is. No lights were on the dash, drove it for about 30 min and suddenly all dash lights started to flicker on and off like crazy, barely made it home. l tried to start it 10 minutes later but the battery was almost dead, just heard clicks. l checked the alternator which was bad, producing less than 4 volts. l replaced it with a rebuilt alternator producing maximum 13.4 volts and it fixed the charging problem. l checked the battery and it was good. Although the system is working, charging at 13.4 volts, Now my battery light stays on and message reads "CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM".Could it be that the rebuilt alternator is not producing enough voltage or is it something else? l checked all cables, cleaned battery posts, tightened all contacts and connections but it didn't help, battery light is still on. Also, i get a message to check ADVTRAC but have no idea what that means. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
