2004 Lincoln Navigator valve trouble

i have a 2004 lincoln navigator with 5.4l SOHC engne I need to have a reman head installed. my mechanic says he must remove the engine to perform this work sounds drastic to me

Sorry! It does sound extreme, and though I havent done this one yet, it is a Ford requirement to remove the engine!
