Engine problem
1988 Lincoln Mark VII V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 130.00 miles

My car acts like its being held back and sputters and coughs only if i floor the gas to pass someone.If i drive it normal it seems fine but its really drinking the fuel.Also it takes alot of cranking to start.Any Ideas.

I would like you to perform a few different kinds of fuel pressure test and a volume test, but first replace the fuel filter and test the TPS and see how it goes.

sounds like it is being starved of fuel.

it may be a plugged exhaust sytem but i really dotn think so, it could be and your extended crank problem could be completely unrelated.
