I take it the vehicle isnt overheating anymore? You may need to replace the CHT sensor, if it is shorted after being overheated it may be sending false signal to the PCM causing the limp mode. When you clear the codes this one comes back? Mitchell doesnt say anything about a relearn procedure after this has occured

My 2003 lincoln ls 3.9L has a check engine light. Just one code P1299 and is in limp mode. Shifting is wonky accelerating at times and the temperature gauge is reading normal. I heard that the overheat protection thing could mess with how the car shifts and as I mentioned the p1299 is the only code. Should I try resetting the ecu first or what is the most likely cause and is it a problem or will the car just stay in limp mode as its not overheating as this code is being tripped?

BlazeWW420,

Would it be possible for you to use this link to post this as a new question, The 2005 with a V8 is different enough that it may not be the same problem and adding to the older question gets missed. Thank you.
