The car was taken in for a smog check (CA). The test could not be performed because the engine would not rev to and hold 2,500 rpm's. When driving, rpm's are not an issue. appropriate rpm at speeds and shifts (both automatic and manual shifting). Will rev some in park when cold but not at all when warm. Idle is fine.

Please explain, was it reset by a scantool? Or did the car's own computer turn it off? Did you get the code when it was lit? Try going to AutoZone they will read the codes for free, ask them to read the "freeze frame data" and post that if you can.

I to have a 2003 Lincoln V6 not revving in park. I recently replaced an EGR valve and cleared code P0401. Car has been driven one hundred and fifty miles. What can I do to get it to rev?

On newer cars the computer will not allow the engine to rev in neutral or park. Can you take a video of what the engine is doing and upload it here to the site so I can be sure?

Cheers, Ken

The engine will not rev in park or neutral. Can you upload a video so I can see what it is going? You can upload it from your phone to the site in your response.
