Why my car takes forever to start?

i have a 2002 lincoln ls and when i got to start the car it cranks for awhie and then after 7 sec. it finally turns over.and when it turns over i get a strong fuel smell. i took it to get checked out but they said the car is fine and when i go to start it back up it does the same thing. this only happens when the car has been sitting for over 20 min. but when i hope out and right back in i have no problems starting it up. can somebody please let me know what is going on with my car. I dont want to have to blow this thing up.

When was it last tune-up?

Get the engine coolant temperature sensor and the fuel pressure check.

Hmm to me it sounds like the fuel pressure sensor is bad is, I would remove the sensor and replace it with a new unit, here is the location of the sensor which is on the fuel rail. This guide can help as well.
