I have a 2002 lincoln ls and when I got to start the car it cranks for awhie and then after 7 sec. It finally turns over. And when it turns over I get a strong fuel smell. I took it to get checked out but they said the car is fine and when I go to start it back up it does the same thing. This only happens when the car has been sitting for over 20 min. But when I hope out and right back in I have no problems starting it up. Can somebody please let me know what is going on with my car. I dont want to have to blow this thing up.

When was it last tune-up?

Get the engine coolant temperature sensor and the fuel pressure check.

Hmm to me it sounds like the fuel pressure sensor is bad is, I would remove the sensor and replace it with a new unit, here is the location of the sensor which is on the fuel rail. This guide can help as well.
