How do we know if the water pump is going out? I have a noise as if the power steering is going out. There is a noise that is coming from underneath my car.

Overheating/underheating, coolant leaking, squealing are all signs of bad water pump. Check coolant level and check for coolant leaks near pump. It could just be worn bearings in one of the pulleys.
