I recently inherited a 1995 Lincoln Continental from my grandfather. It has 116,000 miles on it but I don't know the engine size. The other day my husband manually unlocked the back passenger door instead of using the power locks. Now the keypad entry and the power buttons on the inside won't work. If you press them even open the door you can hear a grinding noice as if the power locks are trying to work but nothing happens. This sound will not stop even when the car is off. I took out the fuse that controls the power locks and windows so the battery won't die. What is going on? How do I fix it?

I am having this same problem with my power lock on my 1992 Lincoln Town Car. Only way to stop is to go door to door manually unlocking/relocking and then fumbling with buttons. Please HELP!

I think that I might have a solution(although it might be temporary). Like I said in my first posting I removed the fuse that controlled the power windows and locks. I did this so that the battery would not get run down. I left it out for the weekend and put it in on Monday so that I could roll down the windows for my daughter. The locks have been working perfectly since then. I think the car just got confused and did not know if the doors were locked or unlocked. Removing thr fuse for a while seemed to be enough time for it to reset itself. Try it. Maybe it will work for you to. :D

I did that too. I thought about disconnecting the battery for a night or something. Because even when I removed the fuse it wouldnt stop. Seriously. Unless there is more then 1 power lock fuse I think I may have a short.
