1999 Lincoln Continental Air bag light coming on.

When starting my car the air bag lights like normal then shuts off. After driving for a few minutes the air bag light, however, starts to blink. After a few more minutes the air bag light stays on solid. Any ideas what the issue is and if I could fix it myself?

It should flash a sequence, such as 2 flashes, pause, and 3 flashes (or some other sequence). Count the flashes and repost, we'll have to go from there.
