1998 Lincoln Continental interior lights , message door aja

My interiors lights stay on , display message door ajar , lights go off while driving . soon as stop put in park lights come on and will not go off. door locks will not lock with buttons but will lock with key remote.

a dealer's scan tool can tell which door is lying to the computer that controls the light (GEM, BCM, HEC, VSM, RKE, RAP,and/or whatever other modules the "ajar" switches are inputs for) - knowing this is a good start. (the switch on the driver's door is most likely causing these symptoms)
Lincoln electrical/electronic/computer systems can be extremely sophisticated - if you want a thorough description of how they operate (or are supposed to) get a set of factory service manuals - they're really cheap and plentiful right now on ebay with all the closed dealerships...
