1979 Lincoln Continental misfire

My car runs fine for 7 or 8 miles then it mis fires and wont accelerate,when i stop it stalls and then when i re-start it goes fine again.what can make it do this.its had new plugs,ht leads,filters,distributor cap and new carb fitted.

Check the igniton timing, accelerator pump and power valve on the carb,and EGR valve-also might want to check the fuel pressure-
