How do you change the light bulbs for the gear selector in the center console of my 2008 Mazda6 with an automatic. What I really need to know is how do I take the center console apart so that I can get to the light bulbs to change them. They are no longer working and the center console area is completely dark at night.
Thanks,
Bob

First, open the cup holder and pull up from the inside of the holder. There are clips that will release so you can remove it.

Next, put your hand at the rear of the section that covers the shifter area and gently pull up. It too is clipped in place.

Once both are removed, you will have access to the lights.

Thanks, guys. Are the bulbs an auto parts item or are they a dealer item?

If I recall, they are 194's. You can get them at any parts store.
