Hello, I'm trying to help a friend out. The lightning bolt came on in their van. I know this could be indicative of something with throttle body, but also it could just need a relearn. I haven’t gotten a chance to read their code yet but seeing what’s first steps one would take. I did get it to turn over and stay on once, then next couple times it would want to turn but then shut right off. They got it to a shop (Steve Shannon which is more so a tire/brake shop) by jumping it, but they said the battery tested fine. And once I jumped it drove fine.

Hi,

Chances are it isn't a relearn or reprogram issue. Most times it is either the throttle position sensor or the accelerator pedal position sensor.

Let me know what codes you find, and I'll be able to help with the diagnostics.

Take care,

Joe

So, my scanner came up with code P0520. But this time the lightning bolt symbol wasn’t on, just C/E light. So, would a bad oil pressure sensor cause the problems I mentioned when I first posted?

Thanks

Hi,

I don't see how the oil pressure sensor would cause issues with the throttle control circuits. Is the vehicle still running, okay? Are there any issues with the oil pressure gauge?

Let me know.

Joe
