Light blinker will not turn off?

I start the car to leave for my job interview and the left blinker won't shut off. I mistook it for just being left on in the active position, but after trying to troubleshoot it, the problem hasn't been fixed. I am taking it to a mechanic, but I was hoping to have some information, so I don't get taken advantage of as I have less than $300 to my name right now.

The first thing i would do is check the fuses that run the system, if the BCM does not have power it can turn light on randomly. This guide can help, and I have included the blinker wiring diagrams so you can see which fuses to check and how the system works:

If the fuses are okay, I have seen the turn signal control relay cause this problem. Here is the location so you can check it out.
