Lift-gate will not open with key fob, upper dash button or manually. It also makes no sound. I thought it was the lift-gate motor so I purchased a new one and replaced it. It is still not opening with any of those options. No sound either. Any ideas?

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.

Since there is no noise, I would suggest first checking fuses. Check the lock and unlock fuse in the fuse panel in the vehicle. Picture 1 shows the panel and picture 2 indicates the two fuses in question.

If the fuses are good, I have a question. You replaced the lift gate motor? Have you checked the power latch assembly?

To access it, you need to normally open the hatch. In this case, you will need to remove the lift gate trim. If that actuator doesn't release, the lift motor won't operate.

Check the fuses first and let me know what you find or if you have other questions. Here are a couple links that may be helpful:

Yes, I checked the fuses. They were good and also reset the computer by unhooking the battery as I had read online that might work. It worked but only for a few minutes and only for the key fob button and upper dash button, not for handle button on tailgate. It stopped working as soon as I put the plastic panel back on and connected the wire to the close button the the bottom of the tailgate. Now it won’t latch at all.

Welcome back:
It sounds like the latch itself is bad. I would suggest removing it, cleaning it, and checking if it will work if power is supplied directly to it.
