I had the lifters replaced about 2 weeks ago to fix this issue, but it hasn't. When the truck is idling it doesn't make any lifter ticking noise at all. Only hear the noise when I'm driving down the interstate for a good length of time. But when I come to an complete stop, the lifter tick slowly goes away after about 2 minutes. Do I need a new camshaft?

Hi,

That is an odd one because at an idle, the oil pressure is much lower. As far as the camshaft, I don't feel that is a concern at this time.

Have you checked the oil pressure? We may be losing pressure as the engine runs at a higher speed over an extended time.

The best way to check this would be to use a mechanical oil pressure gauge. Most parts stores will lend one to you. Basically, the oil pressure switch is removed from the engine and then the mechanical one screws into the same place.

Also, using the wrong oil viscosity can cause similar issues. The vehicle requires a 5w30 viscosity. Other weights are not recommended. See pic below.

Let me know if the pressure has already been tested and if the correct viscosity is being used.

Take care,

Joe
