2007 Lexus RX 330 open door sensor

2007 Lexus RX 330 79000 miles

The hatch back door is closed but the beeper and dash light is signaling an open door. As long as it is not recognized the overhead lights stay on as well.
Help.

if dash light is signaling rear hatch is open even though it's closed then the rear hatch door courtesty switch is most likely at fault.
