removal and replacement of spark plugs

Hi, you very kindly replied to my original question regarding the above procedure. I followed your instructions&drawing, removed the engine cover & found&removed the front 3 spark plugs. But I was completely stumped as to how&where I could find the rear 3 spark plugs. There was an aluminium tube above the area with a pipline secured by a union on the r/h side of the tube. Do I have to remove these items toi get to the rear spark plugs? Would appreciate your expetise on how to continue. Best wishes, Gwenda.

Can you upload a picture for me? On the back side, go to Lexus and buy the tune up kit, you need to remove the surge tank...on American cars it's known as the upper intake...

This engine has coil on plug ignition, so each cylinder has a coil on top of the sprak plug, the small screw in each COP is removed(loosened) and the COP is lifted, then using a 16mm socket the plug is removed, new plug(gapped to 1.0mm) is the inserted into the cylinder and tightened. COP is then placed on the plug and the screw retighted. Repeat this for all 6 plugs, reinstall engine cover and you are done.

According to Lexus 120K miles here is a guide that will walk you through changing them and the plug part numbers as well

Recommended Spark Plugs
DENSO .................... SK20R11
NGK .................... IFR6A11

It varies with location. It can be $70.00-$130.00 and hour.It usually takes 2 and a half hours.

As far as brand name, I would use only NGK for that vehicle. The parts store will give you the correct application for your vehicle.

I agree with Nippos but I just don't find them as readily available as the NGK.

thank you for your help. Another thing is like NGK has platinum, iridium and other plugs, manual says use just iridium plugs,does it really matter?

Yes, use what the manufacturer used when it was built.
