Light bulb is out but I don't know how to remove the cover from the trunk to access the light.

The subwoofer/high tail stop lamp are one unit. The cover will pop off the rear deck with some gentle perusasion from a screwdriver or similar. They are very tightly held though so expect it 'POP' off as the clips come away.
