my lexus has 189,000 miles just recently it has started excessive smoking at start-up only lasts for 5 to 15 seconds

Sounds like valve stems/guides and seals-get a valve job or recondition head

check the air flow sensor located at the bottom of the p/s pump there are two hoses connected to the intake manifold, it maybe leaking p/s fluid on an injecter causing the smoke.
