I'm replacing the timing belt and can't seem to get the crankshaft bolt loosened to remove the belt drive pulley and damper. I've been trying with a 1/2" impact. Is the bolt standard or reverse threaded and is a 1/2" impact wrench strong enough for the job?

Try using a breaker bar, brace it securely in place and crank engine over-think safety-
