2006 Lexus ES 330 brake replacement

Brakes problem
2006 Lexus ES 330 6 cyl 20200 miles

I purchased this car used in May 2009. It had 10400 miles at the time of purchase. My 20,000 mile check up is here and the dealer is reccommending replacing the back brakes. Brakes needing replacement at 20,000 miles seems strange or too early to me. Am I off as I thought brake had a mileage life and 20,00 seems too soon?

How often are brake replaced?

That entirely depends on the driver of the vehicle. You can take the same vehicle and put 2 different drivers in it and one will get 30K and the other may see 100K. 20K seems a bit excessive though and I would bet that they are exaggerating a bit here.
