I have a rubbing like noise coming from the front end left side of my car the faster I go the faster the sound . I have checked the CV joints which are okay. I have two scratch marks on the rotor but I have not checked the brake pads. could it be coming from there or what else could it be?

Jack that tire up off the ground and spin tire, inspect inside of wheel well for an obstruction with tire removed.

if the noise goes away when you press the brakes it may be the brake sounder meaning you need a brake job, it will give a screeching type sound. you might also drive in a circle opposite of the side you think it is on if it is louder on one side than another then it may be a wheel bearing.
