Recently my instant milage per gallon stopped working in my dash. (I recently had a heater core replaced). How would I fix this issue without buying a new dash? It doesn't work on metric also.
This is an original milage Town Car Executive.

Hi,

Have you inspected the wiring to the circuit? Also, are there any other issues that resulted from the heater core being replaced?

Let me know if there are any other issues. For example, if there is an ABS sensor light on, that could be preventing the computer from calculating MPG. It's a theory. However, since the heater core was replaced, I feel it is likely a loose wire at the dash.

Let me know.

Hi Joe, thanks for responding. I'm working with my local mechanic now and the car goes into the shop next week.
That s the only issue I have. The milage will work somewhat for a few minutes then it rolls up to 99 and stops. the metric stops on 2 the goes to 99 the same. thanks

The local mechanic was unable to repair this, cannot isolate part to replace.

Hi,

Thanks for the update. Electrical issues can be such a headache. You indicated this happened after the heater core was replaced. I suspect the wiring under the dash was disrupted. It could be a ground wire that was disconnected.

Let me know if you find anything or if you have questions.

Take care,

Joe

Hi,

Do you have a shop near you that deals specifically with auto electric issues?

Wow, I want to live there. I could enjoy that kind of setting.

Anyway, I don't think it is a component issue. Instead, I suspect it is a wiring issue.

Check behind the message center to make sure the wiring isn't damaged, and the connector is good. I attached a pic below showing the switch connector for your reference.

Let me know. When the heater core was removed, they damaged something.
