LEAK ON TEMP SENSOR WITH A RADIATOR CAP GASKET MISSING

Can you please advise how much it would cost to fix a leak on the temperature sensor with a radiator cap gasket missing on a 2002 Chrysler Sebring Convertible? I took it to one mechanic who said $400, and another said about 1/2. I am confused! What would something like that cost? The more expensive mechanic did say the rad would need to be flushed/new fluid put in as keeping the old fluid and topping it off was not the best solution. Please help!

Even if the radiator needs flushed, it shouldn't cost 400. I need you to answer a question. Does the temp sending unit need replaced as well as the radiator cap?

Yes, the unit needs to be replaced. I was advised that the top on these units are only glued on, and eventually (after 11 or 12 years) they tend to seperate.

Okay... The sensor is about a 15.00 part. It takes about 15 minutes to replace it. As far as the radiator cap that is missing the gasket, a new one is under 10.00. I have no idea why they are charging so much. Not sure where you live, but that is about a 75.00 job here in PA.

As far as the sensor going bad, yes, that does happen.
