I attempted a lash adjustment but when I was done the car wouldn’t start. It sounds like the starter is just whirring, but no spark is happening. So, I thought I did it too tight so i re did it and loosened them all, but same thing happens when I try to start it. What could be the issue?

Hi,

Great to hear from you. As far as your description, it sounds like it still may be over tight. If the engine is turning faster than it should, that is a good indication there is little to no compression, that would likely be the result of the valves being held open.

However, I'm not even sure these are adjustable. How were they adjusted? Also, record it cranking and upload it for me to hear. One last thing. Let me know if this is a V-tec engine.

Take care,

joe

It ended up being fine. I tried to start it one more time and it started up great.
