GENERATOR
Removal
Before disconnecting the battery, ensure all text and cautions in the battery disconnection section are observed. See BATTERY DISCONNECT & RECONNECT .
Raise vehicle and support.
Disconnect battery ground lead.
Drain cooling system. See DRAINING & REFILLING COOLING SYSTEM under SPECIFICATION & DRIVE BELT ROUTING - 4.4L article in ENGINE.
Remove viscous cooling fan. See VISCOUS COOLING FAN under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in COOLING SYSTEM (MECHANICAL) article.
Remove ancillary drive belt tensioner. See TENSIONER (ANCILLARY DRIVE BELT) .
Release clip and disconnect radiator top hose from radiator. See Fig. 6 .
Release clips and disconnect radiator top hose from coolant pump and generator.
Position hose aside.
Disconnect pipe from charcoal canister purge control valve, release valve from bracket and position valve aside. See Fig. 7 .
Release battery lead from securing clip on engine timing cover.
Disconnect harness connector from generator. See Fig. 8 .
Remove nut and disconnect battery cable from generator. See Fig. 9 .
Release harness connector from securing clip on generator. Remove 6 bolts securing generator, remove harness securing clip and remove generator. Discard generator "O"ring.
