I put a new battery in my 2001 Range Rover. This made my alarm remote no longer work. I was told I needed it reprogrammed. I continued to drive the truck and just didn't lock the doors. Occassionally the doors with just keep locking/unlocking on it's own while driving. Eventually the passenger door remained lock and would not open anymore. I was reading on the internet ways to program the remote and so I tried following the instructions. This led to the "engine disabled". I had it towed to the Range Rover dealership and they are telling me the driver door latch needs to be replaced ($760) before they are able to figure out what needs to be done. I am afraid that if I pay the $760, they are going to come back and say..... now the next problem will cost thousands. What do you think?
