2000 Range Rover Popping Sound

My son has an Autobiography Range Rover was running fine. Now it makes a popping sound on start up, once or twice you hear it then it stops. Has lost pulling power

have the vehicle plugged into a diagnostic computer to check for fault codes .. could be a bad coil or bad injector ?
