Sputtering and stalling

My Land Rover started sputtering today on the highway. I would give it gas but it wouldn't go faster then something would happen and it would start to pick up speed. I finally got off the highway and the problem continued until it finally stalled. It restarted for me about 5 minutes later but stalled again shortly up the road. What could the problem be?

have the vehicle plugged into a diagnostic computer to check for any fault codes .. repost with codes for more assistance !
