1998 Other Rover Models Car suddenly stops running

Engine cranks, starts but after driving for a few minutes the engine starts shaking & stops running suddenly. After a few several minutes, the engine will start again. Very confusing. Mechanic checked all wiring and none are making ground contact.

replace the crankshaft position sensor !
