fuel pump failure

Hi I have white smoke on start up and can smell the diesel the timing is spot on and I have changed the head gasket when driving the turbo cuts in it misfires like its over fueling so I changed the pump boost diaphragm but still no difference. The pump timing was set by a pro but it looks like the pump settings have been mest whith at some point douse anybody have a clue whitch adjuster douse what on a 19j 2.5td cav fuel pump

your local library or autoparts store will be able to supply a repair manual with instructions for the repair
