I am trying to replace an alternator on a 2002 Land Rover Freelander. I have done the same work on domestic cars but never on a Land Rover. I am a little worried. Any suggestions?

GENERATOR
Removal
Disconnect negative battery cable. See BATTERY DISCONNECT/CONNECT .
Remove accessory drive belt. See ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT .
Release battery lead terminal cover at generator, loosen terminal nut and disconnect lead from terminal. See Fig. 3 .
Disconnect generator multiplug.
Remove lower bolt and upper nut and bolt securing generator to front mounting plate.
Remove generator.

Installation
Position generator to front mounting plate.
Position engine mounting front bracket to engine front plate and tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
Using a 3/8" square drive socket bar, raise accessory drive belt tensioner and fit drive belt to pulleys.
Connect generator multiplug.
Position battery cable to generator, tighten nut to specification. Position terminal cover. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
Install accessory drive belt and top arm.
Connect negative battery cable.

ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT
Removal
Disconnect negative battery cable. See BATTERY DISCONNECT/CONNECT .
Remove top arm by unscrewing 4 bolts securing engine mounting bracket to engine front plate and remove bracket.
Using a 3/8" square drive socket bar, raise accessory drive belt tensioner and release drive belt from generator pulley.
Release and remove accessory drive belt from remaining pulleys.
